Bagasao and Pidal score early goals to defeat SBS

By UP Floorball Club

UP Diliman, Quezon City -- Shots from Pidal and Bagasao lift Macs 2-0 victory over the SBS.

The Fighting Macaroons grabbed their second win of the season last Saturday. After losing in their match against the Los Toros last week, the Macs took control of the match overcoming the absence of their star player, Martin Reyes III.

The Macaroons gained an early advantage with the powerful slapshot goal by Dan Pidal at the match’s first minute surprising the SBS defense. After a minute, it was Macs’ key player Jomax Bagasao’s turn to score the goal. Bagasao received an assist from Jeffrey Castro at 2:58 and he was able to handle the ball away from SBS defenders and shot straight through the goalkeeper Nathan Nogales.

Exchanges of possession throughout the game were seen led by the efforts of SBS captain Joco Navarro but the 2-0 advantage of the Macaroons could not be overcome by the SBS. The SBS managed to get only four good shots, courtesy of the Macaroons’ tight defense, which were all stopped by Mac’s goalkeeper Perry Buhat. Meanwhile, Nogales of SBS halted 11 out of 13 attempts at the goal by the Macs. The SBS failed to maintain the impressiveness of their last week’s game against the Angry Birds.

Watch the Fighting Macaroons play against the Goal Diggers on December 10 at 12:30pm and the SBS battling the league leader AIA Lions at 12:00.
