Ylanan Gym, UP Diliman –The Blue Fire Sparks heats up after a previous scoreless draw, overpowering the Mighty 300 in a 5-0 match in The UP Floorball League Season 3 on August 18, 2012.

The Blue Fire Sparks shocks the Mighty 300 with a one-two combo of Jose Paolo Bonifacio and Nathaniel Cachero, immediately securing a lead of two within the first 45 seconds of the game. As the defenders Paolo Oblefias and Joy Manlapaz scurry to secure the Mighty 300’s defense, Nathaniel Cachero, assisted by Izza Cortez, again breaks out and scores at the 2:32 mark. Bullet Ribaya and RedbertMaines continue to spearhead their team’s shot attempts, but the absence of Jeff Castro is crippling, and the two are unable to score against Nathan Tarcelo who saved the ball five times in the first half.

The second half started surprisingly with a change of tactics by the Mighty 300. Paolo Oblefias took the goalkeeper position for the first time while TJ Ablaza, who saved the ball five times in the first half, picked up his stick to complete the offensive trio. This is not enough, however, as the defender Lou Marvin Diaz clear the ball from their side of the court, giving goalie Nathan Tarcelo his first cleansheet with a total of seven saves.

A flurry of shots are fired by the Blue Fire Sparks, but is blocked by Oblefias, saving the ball an impressive total of seven times. Despite the tighter defense by the Mighty 300, Bonifacio scores at 15:20, assisted again by Izza Cortez, and shoots a solo at 16:45 to finish with his first hat trick this season.

The Blue Fire Sparks are set to battle with Blades of 4ury at 11:00 while the Mighty 300 will endeavor to redeem themselves against TLZ at 12:00 on August 25, 2012.
